Fading Lights

I just realized that I promised starlit_purple that there would be pictures of these when I made them weeks ago, and there is, but I totally forgot to post them for her.

Today is not quite the day I'd hoped it would be so far, but I'm cheerful and happy enough that I mostly don't care.

There has been lots of reading of good fic. Wordsplat, on of my favoritest Tony/Steve authors started another adorably fluffy story with Medieval Tony/Steve. It is very cute and kind of heartbreaking, but in a good way. And then guardian_of_hope posted the story of FEELS AND THINGS AND JUSTIN with The Only Thing That Stays The Same. I may have squealed loud enough that I had to cover my mouth and be very glad that earlier I decided against moving to the living room where Shi-chan is currently sleeping.

I'm hungry now though, which sucks because I don't want to wake her and I wants eggs and veggie bacon ...

I finally have somewhat of fingernails now, for the first time in my life since I was six years old. They're not super-long or anything, but they're long enough that texting and typing has become annoying, and I've accidentally scratched myself a couple of times. Shi-chan bought me some sparkly gold nail polish awhile ago, so today I decided to paint my new nails in celebration. I'm a little sad because it turns out they're actually clear with gold sparkles and not sparkly gold, but it was a fun experiment. Now I'm pondering getting plain gold to paint the sparkles over, and trying to come up with a scenario in which Antonio would have sparkly gold fingernails because I can totally picture this now.

And cheesy eggs with veggie bacon has now been achieved! ^^V

I have plans to play games with Brother today, but I keep staring longingly at Changing Tactics and wondering if it will finally start cooperating so I can finish the chapter of Antonio/Jayden fluff. Also because I was reading thesecondbatgirl's post about Remix, and I was thinking about doing it. Then I realized that Changing Tactics is already sort of a remix of punkpinkpower's lovely Roads Untraveled and was amused. I still like the idea though, if I could think of something to do for it.

I'm also contemplating posting my queer_fest prompts, but there's one I'm hesitant about, because as much as I really love the idea (I was thinking of thesecondbatgirl and her love for Adam at the time), I'm not sure if it will be accepted under the rules of the fest. >.O

Mostly I'm kind of being lazy today even though I shouldn't be. But damn, it's nice.

It wasn't a conscious decision to follow through with the suggestion of something just for me, but in the midst of cleaning the apartment (Shi-chan's mom's is coming for a visit, and her plane lands ... well, she's probably in the airport by now.), I found myself reaching for my mini-notebook while I was taking a break. I'd started a short Valentine's Day-themed Antonio/Jayden story a couple of days ago, while I was hanging out at work waiting for my ride home. I started typing it up, and the next thing I know it's finished and I'm adding to A Valentine for Everyone on Fanfiction.net and re-posting it on AO3.

It was a good idea, I think. I've spent most of the past week stressing about New Job and how much I don't know and what I need to do to know more. The last few nights were dedicated to research for New Job. I'm constantly thinking about it or talking to Shi-chan about something that happened or asking her about something I don't understand.

But today, I cleaned and wrote about Antonio sending Jayden valentines and watched PR slash vids. And I feel a lot less anxious about work than I have since I started. I still want to do continue my research, because if I'm going to be doing this job, damn it I am going to do it to the best of my ability. But right now? Just relaxing and thinking about fluffy Samurai things is very soothing.

Thoughts From Today:

★ Today's Word Count: 0

★ Started filling out a 'character questionaire' I found someone reference somewhere.

Now I know all sort of things about my main character that totally just got planned today. And I'm kind of in love with her sister.

★ I FINALLY know why and how there are dragons in my story!

★ I don't know why people ask me to tell them not to write things.

★ I woke up from a nap thinking that I need to let in the dogs, Rags and Graham Cracker.

Rags is North Dakota for the next two weeks.

And there is no dog named Graham Cracker.

Yet now that sounds like a really awesome name for a pet.

ETA: I can't remember if I've mentioned this yet, but Rags is the official name of the new puppy. Technically his name is actually some fancy ancestral name, and Rags is supposed to be a nickname. But it fits, because he chews on pretty much everything.

I've known for awhile this was coming, but it doesn't make it any easier to say:

ZombieAdam, my beloved, dying laptop, has finally kicked the bucket. He no longer registers having a power cord. I can tolerate a lot of his issues, but sadly having no power isn't something I can just deal with.

Luckily his hard drive is fine and has been backed up, but this means I'm going to be absent from the internets for an indeterminate amount of time. I'll check in as often as I can, but I can't make any guarantees right now.

My first thought was that it was very admirable of him to talk about this epiphany.

My second thought was the realization that this story doesn't just apply to women. It applies to *everyone* - male, female, transgender. There are thousands of people in the world we never talk to because of the judgements we make based on physical appearance.

It's the reason why I love the internet so much. It gives us a chance to know each other without boundaries; to see the *core* of who everyone is. I'm frequently surprised by pictures of internet friends, because I imagine you to look completely different.

When what really matters is that I know you at all.

Whoo! I'll accept that!

They're totally wrong, but whatever.

For anyone interested in what I had analyzed, it's actually the beginnings of a scene that never made it into Promises. ( I liked it a lot, but I couldn't get it to work. -Sulks- )

Today has been filled with drama. Mostly tolerable drama, but holy crap it's been everywhere. o.O

Brother woke me up at 1:00pm to ask me to sit with the puppy while he went outside to rescue his parents' tarps for the garden. I had barely had five hours at this point due to insomnia and heartburn, so I was fairly groggy as he was explaining. Apparently we were in the process of the Windstorm From Hell today (50-60mph winds according to the news), and the intensity of it was very thunder-like, which is why the puppy was shaking and trying to burrow underneath me to hide.

The rest of the afternoon was spent achieving my three set goals for the day: shower, dishes, and taking out the trash. (I also defeated Diamond Weapon in FFVII, but that was a bonus.) It was fairly quiet otherwise.

Brother's mom came home around five, ( which is when all the drama began. )

Outside of the drama, most of my thoughts for today have been centered around Kim. Just thinking of her, missing her. No crying. I'm just ... sad, and introspective.
