I need a funeral for my brain.

It was a good brain. It served me well throughout its life. It went on odd tangents, but it was entertaining at times. A little twisted, but fairly reliable. Sometimes.

R.I.P. Brain. You will be missed.

(I have a bunch of pretty Winner banners I wanted to post, but Dreamwidth is being mean and arguing with it is a lot harder to do with no brain.)

Oh, sure. *Now* it works. -Rolls eyes-

FINALLY HIT 15,000 WORDS! \0/

Yes, I'm still another 13,000 behind. (I hope to write another 5,000 by the end of the night, but I'm not counting on it.) But I don't care. Because I have 15,000 words, damn it.

I am fucking AWESOME.

[personal profile] punkpinkpower is lovely and fabulous and has good taste in jewelry, and I love her. ♥

(We knew this, but it always bears repeating. Always.)

In other news, my NaNo is currently plodding along at 12,684. I don't even care that I'm 13,000 behind because damn it, they are *there*, and I am STILL WRITING! -Fist pump- Seriously, that is all I care about this year. As long as I'm writing, that's what matters to me.

That, and I ended up taking a break from Space Pirates with Dragons to pay attention to ShinyAntonioMuse because he was DEMANDING my attention, and he has rewarded me with Changing Tactics, which is an AU where Lauren stayed with the team, while Jayden was sent off to master the sealing symbol and grew up with Antonio. It's turning out to be loads of fun. I have no idea what's going on half the time.

* ETA: Before I forget to mention it (again), I've posted my Birthday/Holiday Wishlist for this year. Because it's that time again. -Eyes Friends List pointedly-

Thoughts From Today:

★ Today's Word Count: 0

★ Started filling out a 'character questionaire' I found someone reference somewhere.

Now I know all sort of things about my main character that totally just got planned today. And I'm kind of in love with her sister.

★ I FINALLY know why and how there are dragons in my story!

★ I don't know why people ask me to tell them not to write things.

★ I woke up from a nap thinking that I need to let in the dogs, Rags and Graham Cracker.

Rags is North Dakota for the next two weeks.

And there is no dog named Graham Cracker.

Yet now that sounds like a really awesome name for a pet.

(This is what NaNo does to your brain.)

ETA: I can't remember if I've mentioned this yet, but Rags is the official name of the new puppy. Technically his name is actually some fancy ancestral name, and Rags is supposed to be a nickname. But it fits, because he chews on pretty much everything.

Congratulations to those who are finished with NaNoWriMo! I'm so proud of you all. ♥

I, as always, did not finish. )

In other news, yesterday was Brother's birthday, so last night he, his parents, and I went out to this special showing of Star Trek at the movie theatre. )

Then today was the last of my physical therapy appointments. )

The only other thing I've been doing for the past couple days is reading. )

I hate November. Have I mentioned that recently?

To be fair, this is actually the best November I've had in a long time. So much so that it's surprised me. Most of my Reasons are all ... -Handwaving- internal things. Brooding. Memories. Whatnot. It's what leads to me not being around much recently.

NaNo! )

Socializing! )

Physical Therapy! )

Shopping! )

It's been a busy couple of weeks, but in a good way. Busy means I can't think as much. And Thinking is Bad.

Today I'm browsing DeviantArt and doing laundry. I plan to stare at my Wordpad file for awhile in hopes of doing some writing, but we'll see. Beyond that? Meh. It's a laid-back day.

Just saw Wreck-It Ralph for the second time, this time with Brother's parents. Random Wreck-It Ralph squee. )

Then I got home and checked my e-mail, where I found a review for Bright Skies that is both flame and compliment. I should ignore it. I *know* this. But honestly? Some of the comments they left *really* pissed me off. I'm glad they kind of like the story, but at the same time they insulted half of what makes Bright Skies .... Bright Skies.* I'm ... indignant, I guess. And a little offended.

I'd list some of the things that made me so angry here, but I'm trying to convince myself to take the path of least aggression. And trying to remind myself of how many people have told me they love it for exactly the same things this person was complaining about. I guess I'm so annoyed/irritated because Bright Skies is one of My Epic Babies as far as fanfiction goes, and I'm very protective of it. >.O And I've always been a bit sensitive about the few flames I *have* gotten, even if they're rare. -Is a baby-

... Oh. That explains it. This is the same person who commented on A Tale of Five Carsons. I thought that style of review seemed familiar.

On a lighter note, I found this on Twitter just before I posted. It's very heartening to read. ♥ Even if my NaNo has been stuck for a week and is so far behind it's highly unlikely I'll finish.

* When the author LISTS their pairings in the FIRST CHAPTER, this is considered a warning. DON'T READ THE STORY IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE PAIRING.

Stolen from [personal profile] starlit_purple. (Yes, I have no willpower. -_-;;;)

Name a fandom and I'll tell you which character I most likely:

1. bake cupcakes for:
2. trust with the keys to my car:
3. put thumbtacks on the chair thereof:
4. have a crush on:
5. pack up and leave if they moved next door:
6. vote for President:
7. pick as my partner in a buddy movie:
8. pair up:
9. vote off the island and into the volcano:
10. wheedle into fixing my MP3 player:

Potential fandoms are: Power Rangers, Supernatural, Chronicles of Narnia, Thunderbirds, Detective Conan/Case Closed, Fullmetal Alchemist, Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon, Gundam Wing, uh ... -Thinks and shrugs- I dunno. Name something and I'll answer if I know it well enough.

NaNo:

4313 / 50000 words. 9% done!

I'm still about 4000 words behind, my character has been wandering around vaguely like a drunk because he doesn't know WTF is going on and doesn't want to cooperate to get the story going, and I honestly have no idea what the hell is happening now anymore than he does. BUT THERE ARE WORDS ON THE PAGE AND I HAVE BEEN WRITING FOR FIVE DAYS IN A ROW SO I DON'T CARE! \0/

Shoulder:
Still ow, but it's just sore again. More than it was before the weekend of moving, but nowhere near as bad as it has been, thankfully. Most of the pain still seems to be in my shoulder blades and on either side of my neck for now. Which is obnoxious, but livable.

In the meantime, back to writing! (Hopefully! -Crosses fingers-)

Spent the last two days helping Brother's aunt and grandparents move into a new house. Which is, y'know, fun when you can only use one arm. I was *mostly* good about not using it (namely because Brother's mom convinced me to wear my sling as kind of a visual reminder), but I ended up overcompensating with my left arm. >.< That, and today I was dumb enough to try and lift some clothes on a hanger up and back over my shoulder so they wouldn't drag on the ground while I carried them, and ... yeah. OW. OW. ALSO OW.

I will say this: I have never seen so many random people willing to pitch in and help with moving before. We had an entire truckload - the last of the furniture and stuff no less - finished in just over an *hour*. It was rather mind-boggling, especially when most of them just sort of disappeared once the truck was empty. o.O

We stayed longer to help with the actual unpacking, and didn't get home until after 8:30. I sort of vegged in bed for an hour before convincing myself that I could do to bed if I wrote something for my NaNo. It wasn't much, but my word count is now 1734 and I've actually written three days in a row, so. And if I can figure out what happens next, I can easily catch up tomorrow. -Crosses fingers-

* Okay, my shoulder's not *really* that bad, but it hurts more than it has in awhile. The pain is mostly around my shoulder blade, so I figure I tweaked it again when I moved my other arm back. But I'm definitely spending tomorrow curled up in bed as much as possible. I figure it's a good reason to play catch-up on my NaNo anyway.

Success! I have have finally figured out what's wrong with my NaNo!

... I have no plot. )

But my main concern now is that I have four and a half days to figure out WTF my characters are supposed to do in this story besides be snarky and set people on fire. And when trying to come up with something *for* them to do, I've realized I have four+ potential main characters for the everything to focus around. Which, depending on who I chose, could totally change the entire story.

Reading the NaNoWrimo forums (for once) to psych myself up for NaNo. More specifically reading What non-writers just don't seem to get about NaNoWriMo (or just writing in general)...

Best quote so far: Write as if your mother is never going to read it.

... And no one else seems to be. -Sighs-

It's been a very quiet week for me. Shoulder update )

Brother and I did some goofing off around after my checkup. I bought movies I shouldn't have (In my defense, they were cheap and I was replacing a few old VHS I can't watch anymore.), and browsed a few other stores. We saw Here Comes the Boom. It was cute. A little predictable and there was one scene that literally made me gag x.x, but otherwise a very sweet movie. And I like the soundtrack. ^_^

We watched our new movies on Saturday, but other than that I've mostly been sitting quietly in my room playing Sims3. Sims3! )

NaNo! ) For anyone who isn't already Writing Buddies with me or just wants to see what I'm working on, you can find me here.

For now I'm browsing the internets, saving writing advice and tools, listening to music, saving fanfics for reading later, and lamenting the loss of my RealPlayer download video option. I'm enjoying the quiet and time to relax, but at the same time? Damn, I miss working. -Sighs-
