Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. - Walt Disney

Dear Self:
Keep moving forward. ♥

Today I spent about two hours working on my first [community profile] queer_fest story, two more trying to get ideas to continue it, four hours eating pizza* and watching The Sound of Music** with Brother's mom, and then a half hour of furious writing before managing to post on AO3 and link to it from the community two minutes before midnight.

-Pauses to mop brow-

Title: Behind Closed Doors
Author: Tsukino Akume
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing/characters: Draco/Harry, Pansy/Hannah
Rating: G
Prompt: any Slytherin, A House that is so devoted to keeping up appearances is... not the most welcoming place to be anything but straight and your assigned gender. On the surface, anyway.
Summary: The fifth year Slytherins return for another year of school and another round of plotting to get Draco and Pansy laid.
There were two welcome speeches one heard upon being sorted into Slytherin House.

Now I have today to finish the next prompt, tomorrow to post it, and then rinse and repeat! Here's hoping the next stories come out better than this one did. >.<

* For some reason I haven't been able to eat pizza lately without getting sick, no matter the toppings, sauce, or brand. But since she was kind enough to order me one, I tried eating *very* small slices of cheese pizza one at a time, and very slowly. We'll see in a few hours if it made a difference.
** I kind of giggled when I first saw what she had on because of the second chapter of Bright Skies (where Wes mentions that Katie kept listening to the soundtrack over and over), but I sat down to watch with her 'cause I haven't seen it in years. I liked it more than I remembered. I'm not usually big on musicals or classics, so it was a bit of a surprise. Behold the manipulative powers of Julie Andrews!

Got to see Iron Man 3 in the theatre today. Unfortunately Brother's on night shift this week, which means it involved me trying and failing to go to bed before he got home, only to spend an hour snoozing and then getting up to go. There was also no coffee before we left, so I was extra grumpy. And I forgot my sunglasses, which left me near blinded by the Orb of Doom even with a hat on. -Is whiny today-

The movie itself was fucking AWESOME. ♥ Tony has ALL THE ISSUES and they are wonderful. Pepper and Rhodey were equally fabulous, Happy was hilarious, and the villain plot was full of twists and fun. I laughed, I 'aww'd', and was thoroughly entertained.

Mild complaints: the ending was kind of romanticized to me. It wasn't *bad*, but I wasn't as happy with it as I was probably supposed to be. Also after Avengers ended with the promise that they'd all be there if they were needed, I spent 80% of the movie swearing at them all for not showing up.

I fully expect Fandom to come through and fix that for me. Also, I want fic of Tony bonding with the midget, because that was adorable. ♥

Unfortunately after pretty much no sleep and a nearly three hour movie, the trip home was fun. Brother was seriously concerned that he may have to carry me into the house when we got back, I was that out of it.* (He didn't, but there was still a lot of wobbling, and I got as far as putting my food in the fridge before collapsing into bed.)

I spent the rest of the afternoon sleeping, waking up long enough to talk briefly with Brother's mom, and more sleeping. I've been up for all of two hours so far, and most of it has been checking updates.

It's been a good day.

* Still peeved that I left a mostly full bag of popcorn in the bathroom because I was too busy focusing on getting out the door without falling on my face. >.<++
** ... And I still need to write and post that [community profile] queer_fest story before the end of the day. Crap.

It's been a long weekend.

On Saturday Brother, his parents, and I finally got to see Les Miserables. )

Unfortunately the movie was the highlight of my weekend.

More Random Health Issues Ahoy. )

As for yesterday's physical therapy ... )

... And now that I've depressed myself, time for Megaforce Torture!

It's been a busy few couple of weeks around here. And Brother's factory had a shutdown for the past week (which they do every so many months for cleaning), so he's been hogging his computer to play Eve and leaving me without internets. -Makes a face at him-

Christmas was surprisingly pleasant. )

My best moment of getting present thought, would actually have to go to [personal profile] weesta by sheer shock value and moment of awesome.  )

The day after Christmas I had another physical therapy appointment. )

Brother's mom and I spent the rest of the day shopping after-Christmas sales, which was fun. I always enjoy spending time with her. ^_^ She even got me things! I finally have a decent sized coffee cup that says "Coffee and shoes take away the blues" (I don't care about shoes, but the coffee part is true), a box of cherry candy canes, and two pairs of earrings that look like poinsettias.

We planned on going to see The Hobbit that night, but after Brother and his dad drove to meet us, we found out they were completely sold out. x.x So we agreed to go the next morning instead.

The Hobbit )

We spent New Year's Eve at home. )

Other movies seen over the last week included:

Meet the Robinsons )

Rise of the Guardians )

The life of Pi )

Ironically the first of the last of my Christmas presents arrived today! )

Resolutions for the new year? Meh, not really. Possibly to continue my Word Count Goal of 1,000,000 words in a year. I made 56959 for 2012, which is ... incredibly pathetic. -_-;;; Getting my arm fixed so I can work again? Writing?

Really, I suppose I just resolve to hope for the the same things I wished [personal profile] rosabelle when she texted me Happy New Year. The same things I wish to all of you.

May it be filled with writing, love, and happiness. ♥

I finally got to see the third Transformers movie for the first time last night, because Brother stayed home from work with a bad back and we decided to order Dominos and marathon. My thoughts on it are this:

1) Carly is a horrible character. They could have written her out of the movie entirely and used someone else for the situations she was important to, and they would have lost nothing. She's only there to keep Sam in a relationship.

2) I suddenly want Captain Lennox/Sam fic. I never saw them remotely as a pairing (considering Lennox is SO IN LOVE with his wife and baby in the first movie ♥), until I saw the scene where Sam's stuck with his grapple attached to the Decepticon's eye, and Lennox is grabbed onto him for like, two minutes, trying to get him free.

3) I wonder what Power Rangers Turbo would have been like with Autobots. Storm Blaster and Lightning Cruiser are already sentient; all they need is a robot form.

FOR THE LOVE OF CHEESE, DO NOT LET ME WRITE THIS INTO FTD.

Also, I discovered this Megaforce Cast picture on Twitter today.

My thoughts are:

1) Pink and Yellow look EXACTLY THE SAME. Same nose, same smile, same hairstyle, but with different coloring. For the love of all we hold dear, I hope they do something fun with their personalities at least.

2) OMG THEY CLONED LEO. O.O

3) The more I look at their clothing styles and the school background, the more I am praying that this doesn't turn into some Power Rangers version of The Breakfast Club. >.<++

Just saw Wreck-It Ralph for the second time, this time with Brother's parents. Random Wreck-It Ralph squee. )

Then I got home and checked my e-mail, where I found a review for Bright Skies that is both flame and compliment. I should ignore it. I *know* this. But honestly? Some of the comments they left *really* pissed me off. I'm glad they kind of like the story, but at the same time they insulted half of what makes Bright Skies .... Bright Skies.* I'm ... indignant, I guess. And a little offended.

I'd list some of the things that made me so angry here, but I'm trying to convince myself to take the path of least aggression. And trying to remind myself of how many people have told me they love it for exactly the same things this person was complaining about. I guess I'm so annoyed/irritated because Bright Skies is one of My Epic Babies as far as fanfiction goes, and I'm very protective of it. >.O And I've always been a bit sensitive about the few flames I *have* gotten, even if they're rare. -Is a baby-

... Oh. That explains it. This is the same person who commented on A Tale of Five Carsons. I thought that style of review seemed familiar.

On a lighter note, I found this on Twitter just before I posted. It's very heartening to read. ♥ Even if my NaNo has been stuck for a week and is so far behind it's highly unlikely I'll finish.

* When the author LISTS their pairings in the FIRST CHAPTER, this is considered a warning. DON'T READ THE STORY IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE PAIRING.

... And no one else seems to be. -Sighs-

It's been a very quiet week for me. Shoulder update )

Brother and I did some goofing off around after my checkup. I bought movies I shouldn't have (In my defense, they were cheap and I was replacing a few old VHS I can't watch anymore.), and browsed a few other stores. We saw Here Comes the Boom. It was cute. A little predictable and there was one scene that literally made me gag x.x, but otherwise a very sweet movie. And I like the soundtrack. ^_^

We watched our new movies on Saturday, but other than that I've mostly been sitting quietly in my room playing Sims3. Sims3! )

NaNo! ) For anyone who isn't already Writing Buddies with me or just wants to see what I'm working on, you can find me here.

For now I'm browsing the internets, saving writing advice and tools, listening to music, saving fanfics for reading later, and lamenting the loss of my RealPlayer download video option. I'm enjoying the quiet and time to relax, but at the same time? Damn, I miss working. -Sighs-

*Finally* got to see The Avengers for the first time tonight.

I HAVE ALL THE FEELINGS. )

And the second half the movie had me mentally cataloging exactly how much destruction they did to Manhattan. (And cringing. x.x) It was nice to see a world where it's canon that the superheroes get crap for the amount collateral damage they do.

I'm browsing fanfics for my new favoritest pairing for now, but I'd be interested in writing something for any of the characters if I had the inspiration for it. So far I've discovered the SuperFamily corner of the fandom. There is not enough fanfiction for this 'verse, damn it. I WANT MORE.

Which obviously means I need to go see The Amazing Spiderman soon, so that I can add to it.
