*Finally* got to see The Avengers for the first time tonight.
Hawkeye is adorable. I want to hug him lots. I think he and Natasha have an awesome relationship, and are even more adorable together. ("I think you and I remember Budapest differently" is one of my favorite lines in the movie. ♥)I can see them as BFFs or in a threesome with Coulson, 'cause they all seemed to worry about each other a lot.
... I also might already ship Pepper/Natasha a bit after watching Iron Man2 last night. -Coughs-
Not as big a fan of Natasha in this movie, because she seemed to have more character development in Iron Man2. Mostly she was fascinating to watch interact with everyone else.Although I was slightly annoyed by the amount of random shots of her ass. >.< Her opening scene was by far her best one, unfortunately.
Bruce! I have never been a big fan of The Hulk in general, but this was particularly good Hulk. He's wrapped up in so many emotions at once that it's fascinating to watch. (And watching him be Science Geek Buddies with Tony was adorable. ^.^)
I love how both Thor and Tony's characters have evolved in this movie.
Thor comes across as much more mature and thoughtful, being genuinely concerned for others instead of the self-absorbed person he was in his movie. The change was surprising, but I like it a lot. I loved watching him try to convince Loki to give up and come with him, and it was painful to watch how hurt they both were. I kept hoping Loki would turn out to secretly be an anti-hero like before, but no dice. ;_;
As for Tony, OMG TONY. ♥ I ADORE how he is the *only* person in the entire movie who is completely unafraid of Bruce and The Hulk, and goes out of his way to prove it. He's not as arrogant as he used to be, which is weird, but good, and yet he's still snarky as ever. I'm not a fan of him finally hooking up with Pepper though, which surprised me a bit. They're cute together, but they bicker in a way that seems a little less romantic and more sibling-ish to me. (Which kinda sucks, 'cause I was all for them in the first movie.) Also, the moment where he tried to call her because he was about to die and she was too busy watching the news to notice totally broke my heart. ;_;
Steve was ... not as much fun in this movie as he was in his own, unfortunately. (Sadness. ;_;) He had good moments, like the punching bags/flashbacks scene, and his glee at getting the trained monkey joke was adorable. But he was emotionally harder in a way that makes sense, but felt wrong somehow. I think the best parts for me were watching him with Tony.
I so ship Tony/Steve. *_* I mean, I kind of was expecting to because I'd already browsed The Avengers fandom a bit and they looked like a fun pairing, but yeah, I'm sold. They go from at each other's throats with All The Sexual Tension to working together like the perfect team ridiculously fast, which makes me think that could have been done better, but even so, they're definitely my favorite pairing.
The team never really seemed to bond though, which was sad. It was more that they all chose to work together out of their mutual need to protect everyone than anything else. Which worked, but it wasn't what I was hoping for? I wanted to see them working *as* a team, and learning to be teammates/friends. Maybe in the sequel? -Looks hopeful-
Also, COULSON. ;_; -Bawls-
And the second half the movie had me mentally cataloging exactly how much destruction they did to Manhattan. (And cringing. x.x) It was nice to see a world where it's canon that the superheroes get crap for the amount collateral damage they do.
I'm browsing fanfics for my new favoritest pairing for now, but I'd be interested in writing something for any of the characters if I had the inspiration for it. So far I've discovered the SuperFamily corner of the fandom. There is not enough fanfiction for this 'verse, damn it. I WANT MORE.
Which obviously means I need to go see The Amazing Spiderman soon, so that I can add to it.
