Fading Lights

( Since I started writing Changing Tactics, it's given me a lot of thoughts on how Jayden and Lauren were raised. )

I've been reading a lot of Avengers fic for the past few days. Mostly because I've been tired and cranky and needed lots of fluff. (I have a strong love of fluffy Tony/Steve with lots of snuggling of Steve, as well as SuperFamily because as Iron Man3 proved that Tony with a child is always adorable.) Also because my CharlieMuse and ShinyAntonioMuse are still duking it out over which one of them should have my attention first, and I'm not going to be able to get any writing done until they stop trying to shout each other down in my head.

Anywho, this lead me to the sudden thought that Jayden's favorite non-Ranger hero would be Captain America. Ironically my realization that Iron Man would be Antonio's actually had nothing to do with my love of Avengers or Certain Pairings in particular. I was actually thinking about how Jayden would like Captain America because he could emphasize with his sense of duty and patriotism, and feeling out-of-place among his own friends, and I realized that Antonio would admire Iron Man because they're both self-made heroes. And as a bonus Iron Man is gold and red, and we all know how Antonio feels about those Colors.

I don't have an actual plot about when or why this scene would take place yet, but suggestions are always welcome. But mostly since I started thinking about it and how I want to write now, I've been trying to decide who the rest of the team's favorite non-Ranger superhero/heroes would be. (Obviously the non-Ranger clarification is necessary.) Anyone have thoughts to share?

So the other day punkpinkpower had a fun post about realizing that Samurai had glossed over Antonio's living situation. There was some interesting debate about him, and various other Rangers who don't have a clear place to live in canon. (My personal favorite was rosabelle's vote that Antonio lives in Jayden's bed.)

After reading this lovely post, I decided that clearly this question deserved to be answered.

Ambiguous Living Spaces (Power Rangers Samurai, Chapter 1)

Earlier today I read the end of A Charmed Guide, wildforce71's lovely Power Rangers Samurai/Charmed crossover. The end filled me with fluffy feelings and turned into a comment conversation. ( Spoilers! )

Somehow this turned into pondering how the Samurai bloodlines would continue if the Samurai Rangers inter-marry. Like, do they have to have two children each to make sure that there's one for each element? What if they have an odd number of children? Does that mean the kid gets whatever element they affiliate with, and the other parent's bloodline is screwed? Does the kid somehow get both? How does that work?

From here my thoughts degraded into picturing Antonio and Jayden talking about kids. And since in My Little Corner of the Fandom(TM) not only can two men have genetically-created babies together, but Triforia has had the technology for male pregnancy for ages, I started thinking of Antonio explaining this. And the look on Jayden's face when he does.

And now I'm trying to decide which one of them would be the one to carry the baby. And possibly considering actually writing this scene. And maybe even about one of them actually being pregnant.

ETA: And now I've already worked out the rest of the team in my head. I'm running out of reasons why this is a Bad Idea. (At this point I'm trying to cling to not needing another kid Ranger and failing. >.<)

Somehow I went from playing Final Fantasy VII to randomly working on this. -Shrugs- Whatever. I think it's cute.

Akume: I went from searching for Shinkenger backstory info to men's engagement rings.

In The Rescue, there's moment when we FINALLY get a closeup of what Antonio's necklace looks like while he's unconscious. (Conveniently, as I've been trying to figure out what it is since he first appeared.) It turns out to be a thin silver ring, a thicker silver ring, and a gold coin/medallion thing, all tied together on a cord. I have ALL THE IDEAS about what these things are and why he's wearing them. Because they must have MEANING, even if Antonio actually always wears a lot of jewelry.

I CAN ORDER RINGS WITH KANJI FOR FIRE AND LIGHT ON THEM. IN GOLD. THIS IS SO FREAKING AWESOME.

Today was supposed to be more eventful than it actually ended up being. There was talk of going to see Les Miserables, but then my meds kicked in with random side effects and sleepiness, and Brother fell asleep. I ended up sleeping most of the day, then woke up to make dinner and brownies while sporadically watching Despicable Me. This turned out to be a good life decision.

For some reason, I thought I'd already posted this. But then I was glaring at AO3 for not re-numbering my chapters and realized it wasn't there. So, here it is.

Apparently catching up on Samurai leads me to two things:

1) A need for infinitely more Antonio/Jayden fluff.

2) A need to write in-between scenes to explain things that annoy me.

The end result is three new chapters for Promises. (It also means that now that I'm back-watching, the other chapters are horribly out of order. x.x)

I have one last episode to see - Runaway Spike - and then I'm all caught up and just rewatching to plot out how I'm changing the end. I'm still not really decided on how I'm rewriting it. But I now have All The Headcanon for Mia and Terry, and a new Random Pairing That Totally Works In My Head, and plans for two to four more chapters of Promises before it moves on to the end of Samurai. So. -Beams-

(Seriously, this is all I've been doing for the past few days. Well, that and I discovered that when my pills say 'itching', they really mean 'that tight, burny painful feeling'. I'm still tired all the time, but that's mostly meds. -_-;;;)
