This article absolutely made my day today: Can a Single Pill Change Your Life?

It comes after the article I was linked this article yesterday, which is fantastic news: FDA approves first study on ecstasy-assisted therapy for social anxiety in autistic adults.

For those of you who don't know, MDMA (aka Ecstasy) was originally created to be a therapeutic drug in the sixties. It was supposed to be given to therapists, who would guide their patients through a trip to give them better understanding of themselves and their fears. Unfortunately drug dealers got ahold of it, and the rest is history. For the FDA to have finally approved it to be used the way it was *meant* to be, is ... beyond words.

The reason this is so important to me? One of the men mentioned in today's article is my grandfather. He was one of the people who endorsed MDMA, and hoped to see it used to help people.

While he's no longer with us, my dad put it best: 'Nice to see his life's work still has value.'

I found this lovely picture on Facebook today:

Just now, I found a comment on it from my dad:

'then again the Great Power of Nature is not 'magic' itself. A level of power beyond our 'see, smell, hear, taste' lifetime.'

After a few moments of thinking, this was my answer:

'And yet if we stop trying to apply logic and understanding, it becomes 'magic' again. Personally I find myself filled with more wonder at a world full of magic than I do a world full of understanding.'

* And for everyone else who hopes to always live in a world full of magic, another lovely picture. )

I am a terrible person. I didn't remember that today is my sister's birthday until I saw her best friend's post on her Facebook. And then resented Facebook for not reminding me about it.

(In my defense, I spent so much time worrying about paydays and rent being due, I kind of forgot that fact this is June. Which is bad, because June is the month of EVIL. >.<)
