I've been on a Charmed kick again recently.
I blame Chris Perry/Halliwell. He's too damn pretty and full of angst. It makes me want to hurt people for him.
Somehow during all this reading of Chris fanfiction and browsing vids* and pictures, I had the sudden thought of Chris and Chibi-Usa from Sailormoon bonding over timetravel and meeting younger versions of their mothers who initially hate them. (I'm actually a little surprised I'd never made the connection before. o.O) And now it's kind of my Head Canon.
And then I started pondering how they could have met, and trying to remember what year Chris is supposed to be from. Which turned into the idea of Chibi-Usa being part of the resistance against EvilWyatt. Then I pondered other characters I love who are supposed to exist in the future and could have known Chris.
Now I'm picturing a post-apocalyptic resistance run by Chris Halliwell, Usagi Chiba, Alan Tracy, Lucas Wolenczak, Ben Braeden, Harry Potter's kids, and B Squad from Power Rangers SPD.
Run. Run now.
And for the love of fandom, DON'T encourage me. x.x
* I found this vid earlier today. It's everything about Supernatural that made me fall in love with it.
And to be honest, all the things I miss. -Glares at show-

Chris was just part of the problem, in terms of me stopping with Charmed. I didn't like what they did with Leo's character, and I didn't like that they got rid of Cole, and then there were all sorts of weird things where the sisters faked their own deaths, blah blah blah. And then I just didn't have time for my TV shows any more, and then I went off to college and didn't have a TV (and then I wasn't allowed to watch TV one year), so yeah. Pretty much Chris's first episode was about where I stopped watching.
I loved Lucas as a kid, and Darwin, but having rewatched the show as an adult, I love Ben and Katie (I totally ship them) and Jonathan to itty bitty pieces, too. And Bridger and Westphalen (I ship them, too)! And pretty much everything about season 1. My mom was the sci-fi fan parent in my house; we used to watch SQ and TNG and reruns of TOS and whatnot. (I'm actually not a fan of Justin, but I had a massive crush on Wesley Crusher as a kid that I have thankfully outgrown.)
I'm not being all that much nicer to Andros.... It's generally pretty easy to tell who my favorite characters are; they're the ones who suffer the most. Whoopsie!

-Nods- I watched Charmed a bit in the beginning, but the longer it went on the more it confused me. Chris is the one thing about the show that still intruiges me really - namely because now that I'm older and writing, I can see all the potential angst involved with him. But I do remember it getting ... weird. And while I appreciate (and like!) that the characters grew and changed, it got to the point that they'd changed into completely different people.
I don't watch much TV anymore either, actually. Not much on that I care enough to see. >.O Although I do watch older series where and when I can find them, which is how I've gotten back into Charmed in the first place.
-Laughs- I know exactly what you mean! As a kid I identified with Lucas because he was the youngest, and the odd one out. But now that I'm older I'm finding love for the humor Miguel and Tim bring.
-Grins- For me it was watching seaQuest, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Saturday morning cartoons - namely Fantastic Four - with my dad. Sci-Fi and superheroes were pretty much the main thing we connected over. I liked Wesley too! For pretty much the same reasons as Lucas, actually. ^.^;;
I suffer from the same problem: the more I love a character, the more I torture them. (i.e. Justin, Trip, Chris, Alan Tracy ...) Or if I don't like them initially, I'll go back through the series to understand them, and *then* I start writing torture and fall in love with them. (i.e. Zhane, Wes, Alex)
... We're all a bit twisted, aren't we? -Grins wryly-

I think Riker instilled in me a love for XOs (and Jonathan; I love Jonathan so much), and Lucas and Wesley instilled in me a love for the teen geniuses and the kids who are just looking for good mentors (see also: Terry McGinnis, young Obi-Wan Kenobi). Tony DiNozzo hits both of those, really. Zhane sort of does, plus he's got the adorable blond thing going on.
At least we're not alone in our twistedness. It's a well documented fact on the internet that people tend to torture their favorites.
