Yes, Star Trek: Into Darkness was FUCKING AWESOME. Awesome enough that it almost made up for a bunch of issues with the theater we went to. I loved everything about it. EVERYTHING. ♥

★ I'm still curious to know how much of the information about the other universe Spock Prime gave Kirk during their mindmeld in the last movie Kirk actually remembers. I mean, some of it's completely useless now, but it's still a fascinating idea.

★ I almost cried at least four times during this movie. DAMN YOU CHRIS PINE AND YOUR BIG BLUE EYES AND PRETTY FACE.
★ I wonder if Kirk was actually injured in the attack on the captains and first officers, and then spent the rest of the movie trying to hide it. The way he brushed off/snapped at Bones - and pretty much everyone - was amusing, but something about it seemed kind of suspicious.
★ Not crazy about all the random uniforms in this one. Um, why? And some of them were pretty ugly. >.O
★ I love Spock Prime. I also love his 'I have taken a vow of silence on information from the alternate timeline. That being said ... ' Namely because he's constantly sharing information with them. (His Kirk has totally corrupted him. ♥)
★ And now Kirk has Khan blood in him. I know Bones *said* there wouldn't be any side effects or special abilities from it, but that just seems like a whole new can of worms was just opened.Hellooo fandom! ♥
★ EVERYONE CONTINUES TO BE AMAZING. Kirk is, as always, my favorite, but Scottie was pretty damn awesome many times. So was Sulu. And Bones. And Spock, and Uhura. Chekov wasn't *quite* as awesome as he was in the first movie, but he's still adorable so I don't care. Just ... everyone. They are the best. ♥
★ Y'know, I'm a Bones/Kirk fan - or at least I have been since Star Trek 2009 came out. I still am, but I have to admit that this movie made me give some serious thought to a Kirk/Spock/Uhura threesome.
★ I know a lot of people aren't happy about having another EmoSpock moment in this movie. Personally, I loved it. I loved seeing him admit that he *does* feel even when he tries not to, and the two events that have made him flip out in this new 'verse were not small things. They were seriously bad, major issues that pushed him over the edge. Also, Brother made a very valid point on the way home that I also agreed with: trying to compare the new Spock with the original emotion-wise is actually a really unfair comparison. This is a younger Spock who hasn't spent as long training to restrain his emotions. It's also a Spock that has had some serious, catastophic events in early his lifetime. Basically, it's not a fair comparison because this isn't the same Spock. He's still logical, still snarky in a vague, underhanded sort of way, but his life as already changed enough to change points of his character.
In the everlasting debate over Kirk vrs. Picard, having grown up on Star Trek: The Next Generation, I've always been for Picard. But I've got to admit, the new Kirk is starting to kick serious ass over - well, everyone really.
And now I'm off to read ALL THE FIC until my fangirly urges are finally sated.

Actually, there is an ep of ST Voy that celebrates first contact day, and they play the same song on their jubox as they did in the movie!
There is also just so much Canon in that movie! Timeline stuff, history, warp theory! How can anyone leave it out? I mean, that's my whole premise upon which I am planning to survive the 3rd world war so I can be around (I'll be about 80) when we first contact vulcan!
