You know, I've never been big on princess characters for some reason. I guess that part of them never really mattered all that much to me. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have had to search the internets for any I like. c.c;;;
I think I'd say Mulan (who technically isn't a princess, but I don't care) and Tiana. While there are other characters I *like*, either there's some aspect of their character or story that annoys me, or I like them, but I don't like them enough to say they're one of my favorites. Oh! And now that I think about it, Princess Anna from Frozen. (Elsa's my favorite from that movie, but she's a queen, not a princess.)
I love Mulan for many reasons. Her courage, her determination, and the fact that she does not accept being told no. She's a strong character who was portrayed very well, with reasons for her actions that I can both appreciate and admire. And now that I'm older, I can look at her with a better understanding of the ramifications of what she did in that time period, and love her all the more.
I confess that my favorite *character* from The Princess and the Frog was actually Naveen, but I love Tiana too! She's also a very strong, determined, and hard-working character. But she's also very flawed, and learns to accept that she can ask for help. I've never really understood why this movie wasn't more popular - it had some of the most well-rounded characters Disney's produced in *years*.
Oh, wait!
VANELLOPE VON SCHWEETZ!
I *love* Vanellope! She's smart, she's sassy, and she's adorable! And I have never laughed as hard at a princess character as I did when she announced that everyone who was mean to her would be executed. She often gets overlooked as a princess, but she is an *awesome* character. ♥
As for Princess Anna of Frozen, I love that movie in general. All of the characters were fabulous. Elsa needs ALL THE HUGS, and Anna is hilarious and adorable and fun. I *love* that the theme of the movie was the relationship between the two sisters. Anna's a great character, and her love for her sister through everything is what makes it a good movie.
Fairy Tale princesses? I've never been very big on fairy tales, either. Most likely because I was given The Grimm Book of Fairy Tales as a child, with all the dark, traumatic versions of all the stories. (I wasn't a big fan of angst or horror or drama as a kid, so.)
