Megaforce and Samurai
So. Megaforce Episode 2.
Current thoughts:
I *want* to like Troy, I really do. I mean, he's got psychic ability! That should automatically make me like him! But most of the time I'm torn between facepalming at another one of his speeches and wanting to strangle him with all the cheese it's dripping. For someone who was supposedly from a 'troubled past' as they insinuiated in the last episode, he reminds me way too much of Carter. And not in the good ways.
Jake ... Well, he's still kind of funny. But I'm already over his crush on Gia. If they don't give him more of a personality beyond that soon, I won't care how funny he is anymore.
Noah was a lot better this episode! I think his attitude was what irritated me at first, but it's really not here this time. Now he's just nerdy, which could make him grow on me.AND IT'S STILL CALLED A CROSSBOW. >.<++
Gia ... part of me wants to like her, and part of me thinks she's a bitch. Mostly I just agree with hagar about her.
Emma is ... urg. >.< They call her an environmentalist and BMX biker, yet they have her dressing in trendy outfits and talking like an airhead. It's not working on any level.
As for everything else ... the morphers remain ugly. Gosei is obnoxious. I actually enjoyed the Zord fight except for the talking. I have no feelings about the villains except that they need better mouth movement.
I'm at the Not Hating Everything point, but I still don't really like it. Which actually makes me sad, because I *want* to ... There are many things about this season that I should adore! (Earth/Fire/Water powers, cool Zords, a Psychic Red ... ) But there's also a lot that makes me irriated or twitchy - or both. So far the irritation is winning. >.<
But while Megaforce is disappointing me, my AntonioMuse has continued to demand my attention. And Jayden snuggles.
Promises (Power Rangers Samurai, Chapter 7: A Promise to Wait)
Author/: Tsukino Akume
Fandom/: Power Rangers Samurai
Characters/: Jayden Shiba, Antonio Garcia
Pairings/: developing Antonio/Jayden
Rating/: K
Disclaimer/: If I owned them, it would not be subtext.
Summary/: Antonio made many promises to Jayden over the years. He never broke any of them. Bright Skies 'verse.
For once he found Antonio exactly where he'd expected him to be: at the pier, staring out across the water with a distant look in his eyes.
And now I'm off to watch Lauren and contemplate how to make her even more awesome. And eat more brownies, because Brownies and Samurai totally go together. ♥
- ... The opening voiceover is already making me want to hit something.
- I would probably like Troy better if he was a better actor. >.O
- ... Noah gets less hatred points for checking up on the teacher. Not many, but a few.
- Gia's kind of a bitch. o.O
- -Snorts- Noah's a conspiracy theorist?
- ... Yeah, Gia's totally gay and Jake's an idiot. -_-;;;
- -Twitches- Ugly Ass Morphers are EW. >.<
- ... Did they seriously name the minions 'Loogies'? As in 'I hocked a loogie?'
- Anyone who is actually into BMX biking would not be wearing those shorts. That's a wedgie waiting to happen.
- IT'S A CROSSBOW GOD DAMN IT. >.<++++
- -Chokes- "Sorry to spoil the bromance?"
- .... That is the gayest pose I've ever seen a Red do. And that includes Jayden.
- Zombats? -Facepalms-
- MeccaZord? WTF? o.O (I thought they were saying MegaZord, but if you listen *very* carefully, it sounds like MechaZord.)
- That is just ... the worst Red Speech ever. Even *Cole* wasn't that bad.
- Gia sounds a lot more cheerful when she's morphed.
- Huh. I haven't seen such a complicated MegaZord combo since the Turbo MegaZord.
- Ugh. The more Emma talks, the less I like her. >.<
- That whole last scene felt very forced to me.

Troy reminds me of Carter, too! But I really liked Carter, so. Troy's attitude is so far reading a bit too naive for me, but we'll see; my together-or-not-at-all was just as bad as his when I was 22-23, and it was the direct result of having just come out of something nasty over a general backdrop of nasty, so I'm willing to wait more before having an opinion on him.
...how am I the only one seriously upset by that entire class, including three Rangers, walking past that teacher and not even looking at him. Not vaguely disapproving, but genuinely upset: oh my god, what is wrong with you! (I would sit that entire class for a talk about the Bystander Effect and diminishing responsibility with historical examples and make it really, really clear that yes, actually, the way they behaved in this situation IS ACTUALLY indicative to how they would do in the other circumstances, and if less the one of three students cried I'd consider it a failure. (Possibly I'm being an Israeli Jew about this.)
