Here! Feel better <3 <3 <3

It wasn’t much unlike the Shiba house, Jayden thought as he stepped out on the deck of the large boat. Out in the middle of the ocean, away from it all, isolated save for his one companion, the only real difference deep sea fishing had from his former life was the rocking of the boat, and he’d gotten used to that on the second night.

“I was born with fisher’s legs,” Antonio tells him when he hands him his coffee.

“I don’t doubt it,” Jayden says, looking out over the ocean. He thinks he can almost make out Panorama Bay in the distance, but it might just be the ocean mist.

“It’s the land that unnerves me sometimes,” Antonio continues, “Especially when I’m trying to sleep after being out on the ocean for days. I have to rock myself!”

Jayden laughs, sips his coffee and watches Antonio take care of the fishing boat while he wakes up. They only had a few more days before they’d have to head back. Lauren was due back at the Shiba house from her trip to Nepal tomorrow, and if he guessed right then Serena would be coming with her. When Jayden had told Ji about his plan to go fishing with Antonio, Ji had said to take as long as they wanted, but Jayden knew him well enough to read “Don’t leave me alone with your sister and her girlfriend for too long” into that.

Jayden knew why Lauren had taken Serena with her and not him, and he was happy for her. He hoped that the council approved. He was also sort of wondering when they’d ask to meet Antonio for similar reasons.

Antonio comes over, sits down beside him. “The wind’s nice today. We could just do some sailing, or we could try for some nice big tuna. For lunch, we could grill that swordfish from last night. It makes a great stew, too.”

Jayden sets his coffee mug down in one of the cup holders and lets his hand rest on Antonio’s leg. Antonio looks at him with a fond look, reaches over and runs his hand through Jayden’s messy long hair and down the side of his face.

They kiss, short and sweet, and for once it’s easy to do. Because out here they can just be, and Jayden doesn’t feel all the funny pressure and judgment he feels back on land, back home. Both Lauren and Serena had told him how ridiculous he was for not being more open about his feelings for Antonio, and he is trying to accept it, to allow himself to be happy. But out here it’s easier to do, and he knows it can’t last.

So he figures they’d better take advantage of the time while they have it.

“Let’s not do any fishing today,” Jayden says, looking around. “Have you pulled anchor yet?”

Antonio shakes his head. “No, why?”

Jayden grins at him. “Let’s just leave it then, and go back into the boat house.”

Antonio raises an eyebrow at him, and Jayden smiles, tries not to blush. “You don’t have to ask me twice,” Antonio says, standing up and reaching his hand for Jayden’s.

They’re fingers intertwine, and Antonio pulls Jayden to his feet just as a particularly forceful wave makes them stumble. Jayden steps into Antonio’s embrace, and Antonio catches him, holds onto him tight and gives him a fierce look. “Hey, I’ve got you.”

Jayden hums agreement, let’s his lips find Antonio’s again as they amble back into the sheltered bedroom.
