1. Frozen could have easily been a slash movie. Depending on your mindset, it could still be.

2. The above thought occurred to while contemplating potential prompts for [community profile] queer_fest. I really loved doing it last year, and I'm particularly proud of what I wrote. I've contemplated a few prompts to suggest, but I'm kind of hesitant. Is anyone else planning to do it this year? Who might be willing to claim a few PR prompts for me? -Bats eyelashes hopefully-

3. This is the PRSM Easter Box of Awesome )
I found it at Wal-Mart with Shi-chan late one night and decided It Must Be Mine. Yes, that is a stuffed Red Ranger in there. I have named him Captain Marvelous*, and he currently sits on my desk at work.

4. Work continues to be both FUCKING AWESOME and incredibly stressful. )

5. My work schedule now leaves me with a few hours off in the evenings, and Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. (As far as I'm concerned, this is the best schedule possible. Excluding transportation issues, obviously.) I've been trying to do work-related homework a bit and keep up with chores on my weeknights, which is ... kind of working out. This weekend I decided to be anti-social for a day just to 'recharge', so to speak, and then spent today working on fics and chatting. I may try keep this up: I feel *way* better about going to work tomorrow than I did last week.

I had other random thoughts, but for now I'm off to bed, because SLEEP.

* Captain Marvelous because as much as he's supposed to be Troy, Captain Marvelous is a much better name for a mascot/cheerleader.

My Yahoo Horoscope for today was very appropriate:

Your secret life may be more interesting than your public persona today -- so indulge in whatever you do that's just for you. Your energy is great, and you may ponder opening up somewhat.

It wasn't a conscious decision to follow through with the suggestion of something just for me, but in the midst of cleaning the apartment (Shi-chan's mom's is coming for a visit, and her plane lands ... well, she's probably in the airport by now.), I found myself reaching for my mini-notebook while I was taking a break. I'd started a short Valentine's Day-themed Antonio/Jayden story a couple of days ago, while I was hanging out at work waiting for my ride home. I started typing it up, and the next thing I know it's finished and I'm adding to A Valentine for Everyone on Fanfiction.net and re-posting it on AO3.

It was a good idea, I think. I've spent most of the past week stressing about New Job and how much I don't know and what I need to do to know more. The last few nights were dedicated to research for New Job. I'm constantly thinking about it or talking to Shi-chan about something that happened or asking her about something I don't understand.

But today, I cleaned and wrote about Antonio sending Jayden valentines and watched PR slash vids. And I feel a lot less anxious about work than I have since I started. I still want to do continue my research, because if I'm going to be doing this job, damn it I am going to do it to the best of my ability. But right now? Just relaxing and thinking about fluffy Samurai things is very soothing.

My Shi-chan called me today to ask me for a favor. I was on Yahoo talking to [personal profile] punkpinkpower about the latest chapter of Changing Tactics at the time, which led to this conversation:

PunkPinkPower: SO please tell me the punchline to this story is NOT Antonio getting offed?
PunkPinkPower: your silence is concerning
Akume: -Laughs- I'm on the phone.
PunkPinkPower: okay, good
PunkPinkPower: phew
Akume: Shi-chan would like me to inform you that she thinks I should kill off both Antonio and Jayden.
PunkPinkPower: :-O
PunkPinkPower: WELL
Akume: "Satan says hello, friend!"
PunkPinkPower: *quick angry breathing*
PunkPinkPower: Because *sniffle* if you kill them both off I will cry and I will be so mad and I will just
PunkPinkPower: *Thinks what she has left to theaten you with*
Akume: NOOOOOO !!!! ;_;
PunkPinkPower: :->
PunkPinkPower: No, seriously, why would you kill them both off?
PunkPinkPower: How is that going to fix Lauren?!

Since I started writing Changing Tactics, it's given me a lot of thoughts on how Jayden and Lauren were raised. )

Feel free to share your own thoughts and theories with me. I enjoy a good debate!

[personal profile] punkpinkpower is lovely and fabulous and has good taste in jewelry, and I love her. ♥

(We knew this, but it always bears repeating. Always.)

In other news, my NaNo is currently plodding along at 12,684. I don't even care that I'm 13,000 behind because damn it, they are *there*, and I am STILL WRITING! -Fist pump- Seriously, that is all I care about this year. As long as I'm writing, that's what matters to me.

That, and I ended up taking a break from Space Pirates with Dragons to pay attention to ShinyAntonioMuse because he was DEMANDING my attention, and he has rewarded me with Changing Tactics, which is an AU where Lauren stayed with the team, while Jayden was sent off to master the sealing symbol and grew up with Antonio. It's turning out to be loads of fun. I have no idea what's going on half the time.

* ETA: Before I forget to mention it (again), I've posted my Birthday/Holiday Wishlist for this year. Because it's that time again. -Eyes Friends List pointedly-

I've been reading Teen Wolf fics lately.

I'm not entirely sure why or what started it at this point. I think it was a desire for Team As Family Avengers fic that somehow lead me to searching for Pack Mom stories. Namely PackMomStiles, because it's adorable. (With Derek/Stiles obviously, because I know me.) Teen Wolf has lots of cuddly Pack Family stories to make my heart happy.

Still haven't convinced myself to actually *watch* the show, but whatever.

Anyway, I was reading my current story when I came across this author's note:

See, you conceive an idea for a short, simple little story, and you try to help it grow, nurture it, and the next thing you know, it’s flunked out of college, started wearing sequins and moved to Las Vegas.

I was browsing DeviantArt at the advice of one of the NaNoPrep Pep Talks, in search of something to inspire me for a novel I might actually finish for once. And then I came across this.

It's Shiko, Yasta's cousin in FtD! Her face, her coloring, even the poofy dress! The only thing missing is her fluffy black tail! ♥

I'm also highly entertained that she's surrounded by white cats, which look exactly like Yasta's cat features.

I've been reading a lot of Avengers fic for the past few days. Mostly because I've been tired and cranky and needed lots of fluff. (I have a strong love of fluffy Tony/Steve with lots of snuggling of Steve, as well as SuperFamily because as Iron Man3 proved that Tony with a child is always adorable.) Also because my CharlieMuse and ShinyAntonioMuse are still duking it out over which one of them should have my attention first, and I'm not going to be able to get any writing done until they stop trying to shout each other down in my head.

Anywho, this lead me to the sudden thought that Jayden's favorite non-Ranger hero would be Captain America. Ironically my realization that Iron Man would be Antonio's actually had nothing to do with my love of Avengers or Certain Pairings in particular. I was actually thinking about how Jayden would like Captain America because he could emphasize with his sense of duty and patriotism, and feeling out-of-place among his own friends, and I realized that Antonio would admire Iron Man because they're both self-made heroes. And as a bonus Iron Man is gold and red, and we all know how Antonio feels about those Colors.

I don't have an actual plot about when or why this scene would take place yet, but suggestions are always welcome. But mostly since I started thinking about it and how I want to write now, I've been trying to decide who the rest of the team's favorite non-Ranger superhero/heroes would be. (Obviously the non-Ranger clarification is necessary.) Anyone have thoughts to share?

A few days ago I discovered a fabulous Avengers fic called Not One of Blood, in which the Avengers are separated and attacked, and each is forced to run for their lives while trying to unite with the others. It's heart-wrenching and full of drama and sweetness and OMG moments.

More importantly, it has this adorable scene of Tony making breakfast for his tiny daughter while Steve goes out to get bagels. )

For obvious reasons, I have not been able to get the idea of chocolate chip scrambled eggs out of my head since.

Tonight, I decided to get ambitious and give them a try.

First of all, chocolate chip scrambled eggs are incredibly messy when you cook them. (Melting chocolate an' all.) Second, less is more when it comes to adding the chocolate, as I added so much to mine that I could barely tell when the eggs were all the way cooked. Third, they look disgusting, even more so after they're done.

For the curious, I scrambled mine in a bowl with milk and added chips, then put them in the pan to cook.
  • First bite: This is ... surprisingly not bad. I don't know what I expected, but it's decent.
  • A few bites later: Y'know, I kinda like it. It's tasty. And there's crispied chocolate in it.
  • After finishing: ... Crap, why did I only use one egg? I want more.

So yeah, I would definitely recommend giving it a try. Personally, I may be having chocolate chip scrambled eggs for breakfast tomorrow. Possibly all the time. They're surprisingly addictive.

For anyone who remembers my thoughts on the Power Rangers Super Legends game, today I decided to test out my new copy of the Power Rangers Samurai game.

My first thought is to sulk, because there is no Antonio. Or Lauren, which I kind of expected, but ANTONIO. -Sulks forever-

Anyway. )

All in all, I'm kind of divided over what I really think of it. On the one hand, it's actually kind of fun. Also I find it to be better made than Super Legends was, as it actually seems to have been created by people who at least *vaguely* knew the characters. On the other hand, the story line is boring, the characters are all pretty flat (because they're from early first season, before we had any real development), and it's kind of the same thing over and over.

So far, anyway. I'm hoping it'll get better as I go along.

In other news, I learned that my newest story on AO3, The Essence of Betrayal is the first Wes/Jen/Eric story posted there. I'm both flattered and a little weirded out. I also found out when I was verifying this that out of the forty-three Wes stories on the site, five of them are mine. c.c;;; (I also feel very slightly guilty, seeing as The Essence of Betrayal is centered around Charlie and Sky and the Wes/Jen/Eric part is more of a background thing.)

Obviously the real answer here is that more people should write Wes/Jen/Eric. Because.

Oh, I should probably do something that makes me sound like a semi-responsible moderator, huh?

Power Rangers Appreciation Day Assignments have been sent out! Please be sure to thank [personal profile] rosabelle for this, as I was too busy feeling confused and intimidated by AO3's matching system while she was fussing over making sure everyone got the best assignments possible. Happy Procrastinating Writing everyone! ♥

Discovered this on Facebook today: Bi-Paternal Twins: Fraternal Twins with Different Fathers.

This seems to me to be an excellent reason for those of us in Fandom who love threesomes and Rangers With Tiny Children stories to write them. Or more specifically, more of them. Because rare or not, this is a Thing, and Science has proven it.

Thank you, Science.

I feel vindicated now.

I don't know if I've said this recently, but my friends are Evil.

[personal profile] punkpinkpower is Evil because her terrible, horrible, beautiful traumatizing story We Love Like Fools has had me pondering the Samurai Ranger bloodlines again, and just how important they are and if having children at a young age has been pushed on the Samurai team or any of their predecessors.

[identity profile] arytra.livejournal.com is Evil because I mentioned that I was deciding if I should use my Lauren Has A Secret Child bunny. She then murdered the bunny with realism, and proceeded to resurrect and hijack it by making arguments about why *Jayden* should have a Secret Child, with bonus That He Doesn't Know About.

[personal profile] starlit_purple is Evil because she said 'Ooh' to the first bunny, and then offered an argument for Jayden Has A Secret Child when I complained about Ary's Bunny Hijacking.

So now I have two versions of the same bunny, only one of which will probably in my Bright Skies/Promises universe. But the real question would be which person should I make cry: Lauren, or Antonio?

Arytra: I murdered the bunny you wanted with logic and realism, resurrected it and slightly mutated it, named it and foisted it back upon you.
Arytra: How am I -not- evil?

Last night, I was explaining to [identity profile] arytra.livejournal.com about the Power Rangers Super Legends game I bought recently.

So here's a fun fact: Power Rangers Super Legends, which is a game clearly made by people who know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about Power Rangers, has such a thing as Power Posing. It powers up your attacks for the next few hits. You press a series of buttons, and they do three poses, and there's a burst of colored smoke behind them and everything.

So yes, it is actually a thing. Assuming you believe the game which, again, not made by anyone who has EVER watched an episode. -Rolls eyes-

Which makes me sad, because the Dino Thunder game was loads of fun and surprisingly helpful on figuring out how the Zords work.

Power Rangers: Super Legends in Summary (So far.) )

It's not a *terrible* game, but it's pretty much something I play for the button mashing and randomness factor.

Anyway, when I was telling her about this and all the OOCness, it spawned a comment:

Arytra: Maybe Wes stole Eric's morpher. Or... or... oh! Oh! Maybe in this reality, Eric was red and Wes was Quantum!
Akume: ... That would be kind of fascinating, actually.

For some reason, my brain started pondering how that would work this morning while I was in the shower. It's not that I can't see how it could happen - provided I stuck with my headcanon that Alex was descended from both Wes *and* Eric. But I have no plot. It's just a bunch of random scenes in my head.

Seeing as I was planning to attempt to work on Ambiguous Living Spaces today, this train of thought was less than helpful. So I tried to turn my muse's attentions to the scene I left off at last night instead.

Somehow that turned thinking about the Samurai AUs I've seen around (Which are all wonderful! ♥) where Jayden was the one sent away to learn the sealing symbol, and Lauren stayed to lead the team. My ShinyAntonioMuse took that thought and ran it into my Bright Skies universe. Suddenly I have a new bunny of Antonio getting adopted by Rocky and raised by the former Rangers, until one day a few years later, he senses Something Is Wrong with Jayden, and drags his guardians off to find him, and they learn that Jayden's caretaker died. Jayden gets taken in by Antonio's surrogate family as well, and the two boys grow up together, eventually coming to help the Samurai Rangers as a pair.

And *then*, while browsing DeviantArt today, I found this *fabulous* picture, Genderbend Edwin, by viria13. (It made me giggle lots. ^.^) The author's note had this to add:

A friendly artist tip: if you have no a clearest idea what to draw, genderbend some of your otps:33

My first thought was that I can't imagine that genderswapped Jayden and Antonio would be any different than the way I already write them. (I partially blame [personal profile] punkpinkpower and her adorable All the Boys and All the Girls for this.)

Arytra: I don't think it works as well with writers. ^_^;
Akume: That depends entirely on who you're writing.
Akume: Genderswap Wes/Eric would be *hilarious*.
Akume: ... GOD DAMN IT.

And now I'm drowning in bunnies, because Eric and Wes as opposite Rangers sounds interesting if not plotless. Jayden being raised by the former Rangers is ADORABLE in my head and my ShinyAntonioMuse approves of anything that gets him more Antonio/Jayden. And now I have ALL THE PMS jokes to make about Erica, and her epic bitch fights with Whitney. -_-;;;

I do these things to myself, really.

My Dear Fandom, I pose a question to you all:

What sort of rules would former Rangers come up with for their kids?

Both realistic and bizarre rules are allowed. Crazy/Funny backstories are encouraged!

And yes, I'm actually trying to accumulate suggestions for a list that will, in fact, exist later. And be mentioned more than once. As such, any and all suggestions would be appreciated. ♥

So Rare Pair Fest authors have been revealed. Not that anyone is really surprised, seeing as there were only four authors who wrote for Power Rangers and we all know each other. But it was still loads of fun, and I would absolutely do it again. And I have the BEST STORY, no matter what anyone else thinks.

I wrote In the Aftermath of Glory, which has now given me a very warped headcanon of Andros' life after the fall of KO-35. And now that everyone is allowed to know it's me, it's become a mini-series called Forsaken Guardians (Complete with a Shiny Banner!), and has an extremely short sequel I just posted, called Allegiance. I have thoughts of things I'd like to do if I ever continue it, but I'm not making promises so we'll have to see.

So the other day [personal profile] punkpinkpower had a fun post about realizing that Samurai had glossed over Antonio's living situation. There was some interesting debate about him, and various other Rangers who don't have a clear place to live in canon. (My personal favorite was [personal profile] rosabelle's vote that Antonio lives in Jayden's bed.)

After reading this lovely post, I decided that clearly this question deserved to be answered.

Ambiguous Living Spaces (Power Rangers Samurai, Chapter 1)
Author/: Tsukino Akume
Fandom/: Power Rangers Samurai
Characters/: Antonio, Jayden, Kevin, Mike, Mia, Emily
Pairings/: Antonio/Jayden
Rating/: K+
Disclaimer/: Seeing as I have no moneys and write no episodes, it's still not mine.
Summary/: Antonio's living situation was, much like himself, in a constant state of transition.
"We should be getting back," Jayden commented eventually.

It has come to my attention that I clearly do not understand the rules of writing fests, because I seem to be the only person who has not flailed/spammed/squee'd over my Rare Pair Fest story on my journals.

-Clears throat- Please allow me to remedy this. )

So yeah, it is AMAZING and EVERYTHING I could possibly want. Go read it. Now.

I've also determined that the best thing about Rare Pair is seeing everyone squee and flail over each other's stories. Not just the recipients, who are always ecstatic, but everyone else! There's so much fan love everywhere, and it is glorious. ♥

In other news, I am now addicted to Masked Rider. )

... And now I'm debating if I want to watch more Masked Rider, or go read Stranded for the sixth (Seventh? I'm losing count.) time.

* I love this icon, but it needs more flail. The words 'happy happy joy joy' come to mind.

So I saw Pacific Rim last Friday.

I went to see it again in 3D last night.*

Given the chance, I would absolutely go see it again.

Anyway, the first viewing left me with a desperate need for Fix-It Fic and a plotbunny that I can't leave alone. The second viewing gave me a completely different bunny, but one that I also can't ignore. Ironically, they both branch off of the same idea. So I have a prologue.

The Voice in My Head (Pacific Rim, T)
Author/: Tsukino Akume
Fandom/: Pacific Rim
Characters/: Raleigh Becket, Yancy Becket
Pairings/: None
Rating/: K
Disclaimer/: If I owned it, I'd already be working on the script for a sequel.
Summary/: The voice still lingers, long after he already knows his brother is gone.

** ETA: On a roll! ^_^V

Watashitachi no Kazoku (Pacific Rim, T)
Author/: Tsukino Akume
Fandom/: Pacific Rim
Characters/: Raleigh Becket, Mako Mori, Yancy Becket
Pairings/: None
Rating/: K
Disclaimer/: Still not mine. Damn it.
Summary/: Raleigh can still hear his brother's voice. He just never expected Mako to start talking to him, too - or for Yancy to respond.

* 3D was better. I loved it in 2D, but it was hard to follow the fights at points. 3D seemed to make that easier.

I've been staring at a couple of the last prompts for [community profile] queer_fest for awhile now, and Free For All ends at midnight tonight, so ... Can't guarantee I'll be able to crank out another one unfortunately, but at least I managed one of them.

Title: A Sordid Romance
Author: Tsukino Akume
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing/characters: Ginny/Harry/Hermione
Rating: G
Prompt: Ginny Weasley/Harry Potter/Hermione Granger, as part of a happy triad, Hermione struggles with the common misconception that Harry has two girlfriends and is frustrated that her relationship with Ginny is rarely acknowledged.
Summary: The war may be over, but that doesn't mean the world has stopped gossiping about Harry Potter's lovelife - or his two girlfriends. Hermione fumes, Harry cooks, and Ginny does damage control.
"They've done it again!"
